"MapiExceptionMailboxDisabled: Unable to open message store" error

Description

When trying to re-connect a disconnected mailbox from PowerShell with the "Connect-Mailbox" command, you get the following error message:
"MapiExceptionMailboxDisabled: Unable to open message store"

When trying to re-connect it from the GUI, you don't even see the user you want to link the mailbox to.

Solution

Make sure the Active Directory user account is not disabled.

You can use the following command to enable the user:
net user WHATEVER /active:yes /domain

Run Clean0mailboxdatabase and then try.
