WSUS server not configured error on SCCM
Description
You see the following error message on C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Configuration Manager\Logs\wsyncmgr.log:
"SMS WSUS Synchronization failed.
Message: WSUS server not configured.
Source: CWSyncMgr::DoSync.
The operating system reported error 2147500037: Unspecified error"
Solution
1. Verify that WSUS is installed and configured.
2. Verify that WSUS 3.0 is installed with SP1 or higher (SP1=3.1.6001.65, SP2=3.2.7600.226).
3. Verify that SCCM's Software Update Component is using the correct ports (Site Settings --> Component Configuration --> Software Update Point Component --> General). Usually 8530 (for non-SSL) and 8531 (for SSL).
4. Verify "WSUS Administration" IIS site has a certificate installed for the SSL port.
5. If the "ConfigMgr software update point" role has been installed before WSUS, delete the role and re-install it.
6. Verify that "Synchronize from Microsoft Update" is selected under Sync Settings (Site Management --> Site Settings --> Component Configuration --> Software Update Point Component --> Sync Settings).
Affected software:
System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM) 2007
System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM) 2007 R2
System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM) 2007 R3

I found that I had entered proxy settings in the SUP, but not on the server itself (Internet options). As soon as I entered the proxy settings there, everything synced fine. |

Step #4 in the solution has a bit more than just binding a cert. https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb633246.aspx. Took a few hours to figure this one out. |
