Description
After installing KB973917, IIS stops working and gives "resource unavailable" error.The following event is added to the eventlog:
Event ID: 1009
Description:
"A process serving application pool 'DefaultAppPool' terminated unexpectedly. The process id was '1234'.
The process exit code was '0xffffffff'."
(The issue can also break IIS that is used for Exchange 2007 and SharePoint 2007)
Solution
According to KB2009746, the issue is caused due to some corrupted .DLL files.To resolve it, either:
1) Uninstall KB973917

2) Re-install Service Pack2 for Windows 2003
